Poor sanitation and evidence of lice and fleas at the Occupy San Francisco encampment endanger the health of everyone in the overcrowded, makeshift tent city at Justin Herman Plaza, public health officials said Wednesday.
“Everybody that’s been down there knows it has to change,” said Dr. Tomas Aragon, a public health officer who has been conducting inspections twice a day at the Occupy SF protest.
No longer can I write or say that we’re heading toward $15 trillion in debt. We’ve now topped $15 trillion— a truly scary milestone. The Weekly Standard notes the irony of this marker when compared with Monday’s campaign rhetoric from President Obama. The pity party for women continues. This column decries how tough life is for educated, successful young women who are discovering that — D’oh! — life can be frustrating and, yes, even unfair at times. Heaven help us. How is it these women earned a college degree but have little or no sense of the real world? Where were the parents? Where were the college counselors?
“It’s important to analyze what is causing the dissatisfaction,” says Purdue University’s Teri Thompson. “The old adage, ‘Out of the frying pan and into the kettle’ is filled with wisdom: often we leave a job because of unhappiness and in our zeal to get away, we fall right back into the same traps, the same situations.” Therefore, these women are requesting more flexible schedules or seeking different work responsibilities. Many are turning to therapists and prescription medicines, as well as explore alternative remedies, including acupuncture, yoga, and even psychics.
