Put It In Writing Yourself, Get It In Writing From Them

Wow. Here’s another example of how a university can willfully ignore a donor’s intent when a generous benefactor contributes property or money. Bottom line is this: Be very, very specific about what you intend and what is prohibited. Otherwise, you may end up funding something you would never approve or support.

Memo to DOT: Stop the Roundabout Madness Near NC State

Nice to know I’m not alone. Having nearly been broadsided while trying to negotiate the maddeningly confusing roundabout near NC State a few weeks ago, I’m particularly interested in this News & Observer story. The roundabout in question has generated about 100 accidents in 20 months, says the story. DOT’s response is to say they’re going to study it. Gee, I feel better now. You would think DOT would have realized that if you have to create a study guide to explain how a road works — as DOT did — then you probably haven’t come up with a good system. Is there no common sense left?
