Wow. Here’s another example of how a university can willfully ignore a donor’s intent when a generous benefactor contributes property or money. Bottom line is this: Be very, very specific about what you intend and what is prohibited. Otherwise, you may end up funding something you would never approve or support.

Having nearly been broadsided while trying to negotiate the maddeningly confusing roundabout near NC State a few weeks ago, I’m particularly interested in this News & Observer story. The roundabout in question has generated about 100 accidents in 20 months, says the story. DOT’s response is to say they’re going to study it. Gee, I feel better now. You would think DOT would have realized that if you have to create a study guide to explain how a road works — as DOT did — then you probably haven’t come up with a good system. Is there no common sense left?
