The Cary News has a really interesting story about a small Morrisville firm whose founder is seeking to perfect and market a multi-fuel power source. The U.S. military is reportedly seeking just this kind of source. I post this story because the founder and his company illustrate what entrepreneurship and innovation are all about, what risk-taking is all about. What big-bad venture capital is all about. I don’t know what the future holds for this, but keep this in mind: If this effort is successful, he will become a wealthy man, he will employ more people, and the marketplace will have a sought-after product. And guess what else: this success will become a target of those who demonize the so-called 1 percent.

Compared with older Americans, young adults were more than twice as likely to be underemployed and 50% more likely to be unemployed.
The 32% of 18- to 29-year-olds last month who were either unemployed or working part time but seeking full-time jobs was up 2 percentage points from March and marks the highest since May 2011. Gallup’s measurement is not seasonally adjusted.
