Self respect takes another hit as the topless rally makes another appearance in Asheville. While I firmly support every woman’s right to a make an irresponsible decision, and then live with the consequences, I find it very frustrating that women would degrade themselves this way. Now former Asheville city councilman Carl Mumpower is fighting back.
Former City Councilman Carl Mumpower went on the attack Thursday, launching an online protest against the Go Topless rally scheduled for Aug. 26. Mumpower has countered Gotopless.org with his own website, GoBrainless.org. The four-page site features pictures from last year’s event downtown and calls out city officials and police for their lack of action during the event.
“Bad things went on last year, and we’re trying to creatively impair their ability to do the same things this year,” Mumpower said. “What we’re hoping is we’ll put a pause button in participation.
