Fred ruled tonight
Posted January 10th, 2008 at 10:56 PM by Jon HamFred Thompson stole the show in the Republican debate tonight. Where has this version of Fred been all this time? Lots of bloggers are wondering why he took Huck to the woodshed and never aimed his barbs at McCain. I think that was smart. You don’t want to jump all over a war hero. But his assertiveness had the desired effect. The Luntz focus group on Fox News gave Fred the win convincingly. Now, can Fred sustain or will he go back into his lazy mode?

It depends on whether the South Carolinians listen to the touring bus or to the national media. The Marbleheaders (of which I am one) have given Fred all the cash he says he’ll need to be on the air in South Carolina through the primary.
I doubt the McCain momentum will hold up after Michigan, so I think he will collapse just like he did in 2000.

Fred is definitely my #1 choice for President. (Especially since I actually met him back in 2001.)
Which is why it has been so disappointing to me that he’s been so invisible through the campaign so far. You can have the best message (which I believe Fred does), but if no one sees you or hears what you are saying, it doesn’t do a damn bit of good.
So, Fred: Keep it up! No more being lazy. I want to see you in the news every single day from here on out. You’ve already got the whole message and Presidential demeanor thing down, now you just need to work for what you say you want.
