Chapel Hill Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt continues to pound the drum about “predatory” towing in the wake of Judge Orlando Hudson’s ruling that the town towing ordinance regulates trade and is unconstitutional. The council plans to meet next week to discuss what to do. I suggest the council do nothing and simply let the marketplace operate. Those who break the law — park illegally — will be towed. As long as the parking rules are clearly marked, then there is no excuse for complaining about the consequence of parking illegally. Frustration, sure. More regulations? No.
