Strange, strange story out of Chapel Hill.
The UNC physics professor who was arrested in Argentina this year under bizarre circumstances remains in jail nearly a year after his arrest—and his colleagues are growing less and less optimistic that the affair will be over anytime soon.
On January 23, Paul Howard Frampton was taken into custody in a Buenos Aires airport for attempted drug smuggling. Authorities found two kilograms of cocaine in his luggage—but Frampton maintains he was set up by con men who lured him to Argentina, ostensibly to meet a woman.
