NC State students have raised a whopping $228,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. It didn’t take a government program to do this. It took the students’ individual commitment.
For the week before fall break, N.C. State students gathered in little shacks they constructed in the Brickyard to support Habitat for Humanity’s effort to help support lower-income families find affordable living. According to the Habitat for Humanity NCSU Facebook page, students participating in the annual Shack-a-Thon raised a total of $228,310.05 — the highest total in Shack-a-Thon history. With a Habitat home in Wake County costing approximately $65,000, the total is enough to fund the construction of three and a half new houses in Wake County.
