John Edwards, the anti-Buckley

Posted January 30th, 2008 at 3:01 PM by Jon Sanders

When William F. Buckley announced the creation of National Review, he famously said:

It stands athwart history, yelling Stop, at a time when no one is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who so urge it.

Today John Edwards announced the end to his presidential campaign. ABC News reports:

Former Senator John Edwards, D-N.C., surrounded by his wife Elizabeth and his three children, announced Wednesday his presidential bid has come to an end.

“It’s time for me to step aside so that history can blaze its path,” Edwards said …

    “Tomorrow begins today”?

That’s like saying “4 equals 3″. By definition, tomorrow is always the day AFTER today. There is no overlap.

This will hurt the economy! Each $400 haircut is about as much as those “stimulus checks” that we all will be getting. And let’s not forget his impact on the makeup industry every time he goes on camera.

Maybe he will go back to chasing ambulances.

Maybe he’ll get run over while running down the middle of the street.

Remember the wisdom of Confucius, who said, “Man who run behind ambulance get exhausted.”
