Eight people — seven Democrats and one Republican – have applied to fill the seat on the Wake County school board vacated by Republican Chris Malone, who was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives. The Democratic-controlled school board will now decide which ones get an interview, and which one will be tapped to fill the District 1 seat.
