What ‘happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate’

Posted February 5th, 2009 at 10:08 PM by Jon Sanders

When an abortion doctor “loses a patient,” he’s delivered alive. From Florida:

Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy. … Only Renelique didn’t arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic’s owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant’s umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

I don’t understand why people are shocked. It’s not any different from what happens there normally. It’s just that the killing happened after the delivery instead of just before it.

The only people who should be shocked are those who actually believe that claptrap about the baby not being “alive” until it’s delivered. Now you know differently. But those who know it’s murder (regardless of what they say) won’t have any qualms about depositing a live baby in a “biohazard” bag, because that was the mother’s intent woman’s “right” all along.
