These people are so tiresome
Posted February 26th, 2009 at 9:33 AM by Jon HamNever ones to let any opportunity pass to push a radical environmental agenda, enviro wackos are now, with an able propaganda assist from The New York Times, campaigning against soft toilet tissue:
The country’s soft-tissue habit — call it the Charmin effect — has not escaped the notice of environmentalists, who are increasingly making toilet tissue manufacturers the targets of campaigns. Greenpeace on Monday for the first time issued a national guide for American consumers that rates toilet tissue brands on their environmental soundness. With the recession pushing the price for recycled paper down and Americans showing more willingness to repurpose everything from clothing to tires, environmental groups want more people to switch to recycled toilet tissue.
And yet, lefty libs continue to deny that they want to tell us all how to live our lives.

These lefty libs are welcome to start doing the Muslim thing and wipe their asses with their hands for all I care. But in the meantime, I will continue to use my Charmin Ultra Soft by the handful, not one square at a time as Sheryl Crow suggested. Why? Because I like for my hands to be feces-free. Call me crazy if you like.
Besides, I think I saw on that “How It’s Made” show that most toilet paper is made from recycled paper pulp anyway. Or am I wrong?

I used to be in the paper industry, and depending on how you define it, most paper I knew was made with 5-10% “recycled” fiber — though most of it is substandard paper and trim that was dumped in the repulper in the basement. The mills I knew had a big hole in the floor, and they just sliced it off and shoved in. In other words, the recycling aspect was about fifteen feet vertically and a hundred or so back to the head of the machine.
The operative term here, I think, is “post-consumer waste”, which is an accurate but just about unmarketable phrase if you’re an environmentalist talking about toilet paper. Too much like a regrettable joke.

You know it has to be said – that is just crappy.
