Intruder killed with samurai sword

Posted September 15th, 2009 at 3:57 PM by Jon Ham

A Johns Hopkins student killed an intruder with a samurai sword in a Baltimore off-campus apartment:

A Johns Hopkins University student armed with a samurai sword killed a man who broke into the garage of his off-campus residence early Tuesday, a Baltimore police spokesman said.

According to preliminary reports, a resident of the 300 block of E. University Parkway called police about a suspicious person, department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. An off-duty officer responded about 1:20 a.m. to the area with university security, according to Guglielmi. They heard shouts and screams from a neighboring house and found the suspected burglar suffering from a nearly severed hand and laceration to his upper body, he said.

Personally, I’d prefer a shotgun, but, hey, whatever works.

Next we’ll have to see if the local kooky DA decides to prosecute the victim, that is, after she prosecutes the investigative reporters who videotaped ACORN willing to facilitate a child-prostitution ring.

It’s sort of the Pulp Fiction/Kill Bill solution to crime.

When swords are outlawed, only outlaws will have swords.

Even up here, I wouldn’t expect prosecution. Enough people are killed all the time just going about their lives.

In fact, interestingly enough, an off-duty policeman killed an intruder recently, and it was reported that the intruder was fleeing. It sounded a lot like the recent situation in Charlotte. It will be interesting to see how the two DAs handle these cases.
