Triangle leftists have a lot to look forward to in January. MLK Day activities in the Triangle include a Jan. 13 speech by Lani Guinier at NC State and a Jan. 21 speech by Danny Glover at UNC Chapel Hill.

I’m going to go out on a limb and predict they’ll both try to make a case that we are still a very racist society; in fact, more so now under a black president than any time since the Civil Rights era.
Again, it’s not much of a prediction, since that’s been Angry Left standard grousing procedure since November ’08. They are deliberately tone-deaf to the reality that is exceptionally non-racist for a black man to receive a majority of votes for president and then be judged on the merits of his actions, especially on how they differed from his electoral promises. Some of us recall a formerly well-known speech by a formerly oft-quoted wise man that concluded with a wish to be judged on the contents of character rather than the color of skin.
