Tonight at 7, the Raleigh City Council holds a public hearing on the Southeast High Speed Rail Project. A group of Five Points residents who don’t want it in their backyard plan to express opposition, although they say they support high-speed rail in general. You can hear their spokesperson discuss it with WPTF’s Bill LuMaye here. The interview is tagged as High Speed Rail Headed for Raleigh.
Based on the data, which you can find here, this group should oppose high-speed rail no matter where it’s proposed in North Carolina. You can hear JLF’s Michael Sanera explain why to WPTF’s Bill LuMaye here. The interview is tagged as NC3 Not Necessary?

NIMBYism is really just another expression of liberalism: “I want this thing, and although I am OK with paying for some small fraction of it, if I really have to, what I really want is for ALL OF YOU to pay for the rest of it so that I can use it — whether or not you are interested in using it is irrelevant to me so long as I get to use it. And I don’t want it to inconvenience me in any way — inconvenience is for suckers who aren’t politically well-connected enough to avoid it.”
It’s just too bad that more people aren’t willing to get in liberals’ faces and call them on their BS in front of everyone.

wow, clearly all THREE of you that posted on here weren’t at the city council meeting nor did you watch the 2 hour video of it. if you had, you would’ve seen that MANY people who didn’t live in 5 points showed up and opposed the plan for NC3 tearing through 5 points. you also would’ve learned that it’s not going to effect 5 or 10 homes & families, it’s going to effect 30-40 homes that are a part of raleigh’s true age and history. not to mention effect the tax value of all of the other homes in 5 points. but most importantly you would’ve realized that the people opposed to the plan were concerned least about their homes, their biggest concern was stripping the charm away from such a one of a kind area in raleigh. no one is opposed to the rail! they’re opposed to NC3 because it has the most devastating effects. CLEARLY.
have you even been to 5 points? given your attitude towards this i’m going to assume you live in north raleigh where every house looks the same. if i lived in cookie cutter house built 4 years ago and the DOT wanted to buy me out and put a high speed rail in my neighborhood it wouldn’t be a big deal to me. you can replace a house that looks like every other house in the neighborhood, you can’t replace a 50 year old home with original hardwood floors.
just from reading your “posts” i can say that even just 2 houses in 5 points have more character than the 3 of you combined.
